July 14 – The Bubble of LIfe


It's a cliché, of course, but the fleeting and ephemeral nature of life is a constant source of musing for me. David Langdon, alias Hubert the Clown, sees it everyday in his work at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg. I will never forget the hysterical peals of laughter that erupted from little Dre as Hubert's bubbles wafted from the wand and over his head. David's a gifted and lucky man to bring such joy to unlucky children.

July 11 – Ruth out with Dooders


Dooders was Judee, the Yorkshire Terrier with arfitude, as Ruth called it. At the time of this photo in April 2006, Judee was about 14 years old and starting to show some signs of her age. While she still liked a good ramble in the brambles, increasingly her walks turned into rides.

July 10 – Massive Canvas & Baby Grand


A number of years ago, Winnipeg painter Bette Woodland and I made a very satisfactory swap: one painting for a selection of my photos as reference material for her pastoral paintings.

We're still looking for a wall of sufficient size to showcase this huge canvas in our new home.
