“I've started this blog… [as] a New Year's resolution to see how close I could get to [reprising] at least one photograph per day for 2011. … I hope you enjoy some of my blasts from the past.”

July 9 – Entering Halfway OR

The town of Halfway is situated in Pine Valley, about eight miles due west of the
Woodhead Campground at Brownlee Dam in Devil's Canyon. How did the town get
its name? Visit http://town.half.com/learn.htm to find the answer. The home page of the website
says the population of 345 “consists of hard-working, self-sufficient folks... is a tight-knit
community, full of tradition and camaraderie.” The town changed its official name to half.com in
2000 in exchange for cash and computers.
